Local Restaurant Week - Remington Tavern

Remington's Local Restaurant Week Menu
Local Restaurant Week dining adventure number 1: Remington Tavern

Tonight I enjoyed dinner at Remington Tavern with my best friends from high school. While our dinners were all very good, the best part of the night by far was the company. Nothing is better than having a meal with lifelong friends. Tara, Trisha, Sarah, Mary Kay, Leigh (couldn't join us) and I have been friends for over 30 years! That's a lot of years, a lot of history and a lot of memories created together. I could write a blog about our 30+ year friendship….oh man, the stories we could share! After we graduated from high school we promised and pinky swore that we would always be friends. To this day no one has broken that promise. Throughout the years we have taken different paths and different directions in life but we've always stuck together and remained close. Mary Kay lives in Germany now and she was visiting Buffalo on business and to see her family but she made time to have dinner with us. We may not talk or see each other everyday, heck we are lucky if we see each other every couple of months, but when we do it's like we just talked yesterday. Case in point, our dinner tonight…we talked non-stop for three hours and could have talked for 3 more. It's a good thing we have a "Girls Weekend" planned next month…48 hours of non-stop gabbing…I'm already counting the days girlfriends! So while we caught up, laughed, gossiped, and went down memory lane, we enjoyed a great dinner at Remington Tavern. Salute to my high school besties and having dinner together during Local Restaurant Week!
Our Food Impressions:
From left to right: MaryKay, Andrea, Tara, Trisha, Sarah

Cider-Brine 12 oz Pork Chop
Andrea: "A pear chutney was served on top of pork chop which was perfectly prepared. The chop was moist and tender and had a pleasant tasted cider char on the outside. The pear chutney wasn't too sweet and it complimented the chop well. It was served over mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The pork chop was the highlight of this dish by far.
Jambalaya Pasta
Tara: "Wonderful taste and spiciness. Would have preferred rice to the pasta but didn't deter from the quality of the meal.

Grilled Chicken Breast Sandwich
Trisha: "Mushrooms, grilled onion and mozzarella cheese, served with a side of  hand cut french fries and a side of malt vinegar aioli."
Seafood Fra Diavolo
Sarah: "My food was yummy. It was the perfect spicy bite to it without overpowering the taste of the food." Mussels, shrimp and squid with spicy marinara.
Seared Diver Scallops
Mary Kay: " Seared Diver Scallops served over creamy lemon risotto and shaved parmesan cheese."
